| More often than not shooters neglect this all important area of personal safety. Sometimes even the
omission of one or the other. Not only it is unsafe but irreparable damage can occur.
Nothing worse than a cheap pair of safety glasses or plain ear plugs. Ear protection is extremely important especially indoors where sound becomes augmented by resonance. Proper equipment can make the difference between hearing longevity and a pair of hearing aids. Ear muffs of high quality are a necessity due mainly to the fact that they cover not just the ear but also the surrounding area. In addition plugs can and should be used as added protection. Safety glasses of good quality are imperative, they should have the biggest lens area. Prescription glasses are noted especially, in a lot of cases, for their small lens. In this case the shooter should get a special pair of glasses that are prescription and yet have the greatest eye coverage possible. Air quality is sometimes less than desirable when shooting indoors. Although regular filtered masks are reasonable in price and quality, there are specialty shops that carry masks specific for the sport. In conclusion, protect yourself accordingly by using the best available products. The long term use will outweigh their cost. |
