Storage

It's not enough to just comply with the Regulations set out for the safe storage and transportation of firearms. There is now, more than ever, the need to exercise an extreme and diligent approach as to how we store and transport.

What we need to do:

• Ensure your storage safe is appropriate for the task and well secured to a wall or floor
• Every firearm must be trigger locked and unloaded
• Keep all ammunition in a separate and secure, lockable, vented and clearly marked "Explosives" (Fire Department Regulation).
• If possible upgrade to a heavy duty safe
• Locate the safe so as to avoid it being easily seen
• A room with a proper lock or locking mechanism where the safe can be stored will give additional protection
• An alarm system in the house or apartment
• A separate alarm in this room would be ideal (make sure the alarm company is aware of what is being stored and instructions for immediate police dispatch if the alarm is triggered)
• Use discretion when leaving and entering your residence so anyone passing by will not be alerted that firearms are being stored on the premises
By following these simple rules we can minimize the risk of a break in or a personal assault.
